IRON CHEF, TACOMA - A Benefit Event for Victims of Domestic Violence.
Monday, Nov. 24, 6pm @ Urban Gourmet - $75 for tickets .
All net proceeds will go to the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center.
Executive chefs from two popular local restaurants will compete
for the coveted Iron Chef Tacoma trophy at Urban Gourmet, Sixth Avenue's headquarters for quality cookware, gifts, spices, and teas.
Pacific Grill along with several area restaurants will donate delicious cuisine for the event, which will include wine tastings, door
prizes, and gift bags for audience members. Plus, Metal Artist, Biff Vincent is donating his Sun/Moon custom metal art piece for auction.
Competing
chefs include Joel Mertens, of Tacoma's Asado/Masa, and Jaron Witsoe, of Sofia Bistro/Mandolin Café. Each will receive a black box
containing the same "mystery ingredients" and have 10 minutes to plan a menu and raid Urban Gourmet's pantry and selection of 200-plus
bulk spices and teas.
They will then have exactly one hour to prepare a four-course spread worthy of "celebrity" judges including
Executive Chef Gordon, of the Pacific Grill, Director, Susan Adams, of the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center, and a third judge
yet to be named!
As part of the night's events we will hear a compelling and inspirational story told by a survivor of domestic violence,
underlining the importance of these services in our communities.
